SAHAMATI(An Institution Dedicated For Community Plus Humane Development) SAHAMATI is a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit making, member-based social development organization established in 2001/11/12 (kartik 27, 2058) by a group of professionals and development workers with long experience in community development. This organization has been registered as an NGO under the organization registration act of Nepal. Global problems like climate change, poverty, social discrimination and migration influence Nepal's development process, demanding diversified answers. Underprivileged groups are often excluded while designing development program, unfortunate for them. SAHAMATI aims to make a change by addressing the huge challenges of the 21st century with a community-centered approach, focusing on social justice and social transformation, human rights development and self-help promotion. SAHAMATI has built a large network composed of diverse social groups, national and international organizations and like-minded institutions and have been launching various kinds of community-centered programs on collaboration. A range of internal programs have been developed and implemented independently through SAHAMATI under Theme 2 (Learning and Innovation) are coordinated through our own resources. Details / requirements:

SAHAMATI (An Institution Dedicated For Community Plus Human Development) a national level NGO invites application from qualified Nepali citizens for the following positions to implement a partnership program with Lutheran World Relief (LWR) on Nepal-India Trans- boundary Flood Resilience Project in eight VDCs Triveni Susta , Kudiya , Narshahi , Guthi Parsauni , Somani , Rupauliya , Paklihawa  & Bhujahawa of Nawalparasi District to enhance communities well being and resilience to impact of flood.

1. Position: Program Coordinator-1 (One)

Required qualification, experience and competencies

  • At least Bachelor's Degree (Masters preferred) in Disaster Risk Reduction or Environmental studies or environment management  or related fields
  • At least three years (after bachelor degree) experience in disaster risk management (flood), Community based DRR, Community based EWS, school based DRM  and Disaster Resilience programs
  • Knowledge on LDRMP, DPRP, DDMP, DEOC, EWS, CBDRMP, and SBDRMP and  related policies, frameworks, guidelines
  • Knowledge on livelihood diversification, economic development 
  • Ensure effective implementation of the activities in accordance of the project agreement & result based framework
  • Motivate, coordinate, build capacity and supervise staffs as well as provide them a morale support to encourage achieving project goal. 
  • Have good analytical skills in planning, monitoring, evaluation and knowledge management 
  • Regular coordination and linkages with the district (DAO, DDC, DADO, DEOC, DHM etc.), VDCs and community level stakeholders 
  • Sound in computer skill and strong inter personnel skill with reporting in English and Nepali language 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet the strict deadline 
  • Strong commitment to work in rural set up and disaster prone areas
  • Have valid motorcycle driving license

2. Position: Social Mobilizer (Few)

Required qualification, experience and competencies

  • At least Intermediate (+2) or equivalent education
  • At least two  year experience in social mobilization working in flood affected community 
  • Skills to organize meeting and orientation with local user groups, CBOs and local community people 
  • Coordinate with community groups and other local line agencies at the field level for effective implementation  of program activities as planned
  • To facilitate on identification and mobilization of local resources and promote alternative livelihood options
  • Have skills on local context and language
  • Assist communities to analyze the disaster risks, identifying hazards, disaster vulnerable areas, families and people and help the communities to priorities and implement different activities to cope with the disaster.
  • Ensure active and inclusive participation of community people during every project activities and during preparation of CBDRMP/LDRMP. 
  • Document activities, progress and challenges by writing reports, case studies and submit updated monthly field reports to Coordinator.
  • Priority will be given to the local people of respective VDCs (100% field based)

3. Position: Agriculture Technician (JTA) -1 (One)

Required qualification, experience and competencies

  • At least Junior Technical Assistant (JTA) from government recognized technical institution
  • Have innovative ideas and practical skills to promote the livelihood activities in Terai region
  • Experience on agriculture promotion, entrepreneurship development and other income generating activities especially in flood affected areas
  • Coordinate with concerned stakeholders in the community

4. Position: Procurement and Logistic Assistant -1 (One)

Required qualification, experience and competencies

  • At least Bachelor's Degree in Management
  • At least two year of procurement and logistics management, and account keeping experiences
  • Good Knowledge of the GoN Public Procurement Act and Public Procurement Regulations 
  • Experiences on procurement of goods (essential) and consultant services (an advantage)
  • Good skills in Microsoft Excel and Word and office package
  • Knowledge of office facilities, office management, transport and asset management
  • Prepare monthly logistics report
  • Process orders from technical department, purchase locally available material according to organization’s logistics procedures.
  • Follow up of orders, follow up equipment and ensure proper management of communication devices
  • Compile the official, project related payments & bills, and report to the concerns for the fund disbursement and liquidation. 
  • Maintain good relation with community and suppliers for the project related activities
