Shakti Milan Samaj (SMS) is an apolitical, non-profit organization based in Kathmandu, Nepal started by a group of HIV positive women who themselves came together with a common mission to work on the issues of woman’s rights and violence against women, and to support for the empowerment of the women and children infected and affected with HIV/ AIDS. 

SMS is implementing a project funded by CHILDHOOD foundation, which has already been agreed to be extended through July 2017. A new position has been envisioned for this next phase extension; hence the organization invites applications for following position:

Organizational Development Coordinator:  This is a strategic position that primarily works for organizational professional growth and sustainability. The position will work on five major objective areas:

  • Review of current activities and identification of key strengths and weaknesses
  • Organizational strategy development 
  • Staff’s Capacity Development on quality project management, and M&E
  • Stakeholder consultation, government liaison, and coordination and networking
  • Proposal development and fund raising

Below is the non-exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities of the position:

  • Review current projects including on-going activities, their implementation, staff capacity, achievements, strengths, challenges, weaknesses and how results are measured
  • Map other available services for the target group by government and civil society organizations and develop a situational analysis describing key gaps where Shakti Milan Samaj’s services are mostly needed 
  • Lead and coordinate a process to develop a long-term strategy expressing the core values of the organization and key objectives for the strategy period
  • Suggest changes to organizational and project structure to make implementation of the strategic plan possible and so that all program activities are carried out in a way to achieve organizational objectives, mission and vision 
  • Develop yearly plans based on the long-term strategy together with existing team
  • Develop an overall monitoring framework with key indicators per project making it possible to follow-up results, identify gaps and provide stronger evidence for fundraising efforts
  • Asses and suggest training needs of staff members 
  • Train staff in monitoring tools and methods and support the team to develop reports for internal use and for external partners 
  • Support existing staff with preparation of quarterly and annually progress reports 
  • Contribute to a fundraising plan together with existing staff and support development of new grant applications on the basis of priority of organization remaining within its policies, norm-values, and strategic planning and as guided by the management team.
  • Update and maintain coordination with donor partners for information
  • Liaise between Shakti Milan Samaj and other related organization like partner NGO/INGO, Government agencies and stakeholders in program related matters. 

The initial contract duration of the position will be through 31st September 2016, and can be extended further based on performance and funding availability. The selected candidates are expected to join the organization as of 1st July 2016.
