RURAL ACCESS PROGRAMME, PHASE 3 (RAP3)

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

RAP3 is a UK-Aid funded 6 year comprehensive poverty alleviation programme which improves incomes and resilience through employment, sustainable access to markets and improved access to economic opportunities in the rural transport infrastructure. The LRN component provides employment to the poorest and most vulnerable people in remote districts in Nepal in upgrading and maintaining district roads, constructing district roads and helps strengthen institutional capacity required for sustainable development. Similarly, the CONNECT component focuses on economic development by leveraging private sector investment and interest in local commercial opportunities and strengthening the enabling environment for business in RAP districts. 

1. RAP3 LRN Engineering Intern – 9 positions

We are looking for fresh graduates with minimum qualification listed below for a 6 month internship placement in 9 RAP3 core districts.  

Minimum Qualification 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (B.E.) from a recognised university
  • Must possess good knowledge of spoken and written English 
  • Must be available to start in mid-May 2017
  • Preference will be given to those with no working experience since graduation

Candidates for the RAP3 LRN Engineering Internship should submit 

  • An essay written in good quality English and of no more than 500 words in your own words expressing original thoughton “How can young Engineers contribute to Rural Development”

2. RAP3 CONNECT Intern – 1 position 

We are looking for the smartest, brightest and most creative people willing to bring their own entrepreneurial spirit to our team.  Candidates must be hard working team players who are hungry to learn. This internship will be offered for 6 months with possible extension. 

Minimum Qualification 

  • Passed Bachelor level from a recognised university
  • Rank holder or graduated in top 2% of the class
  • Good working knowledge of written and spoken English and strong quantitative skills
  • Willing and able to work in remote mountain districts.

Candidates for the RAP3 CONNECT internship should submit

  • No more than 100 words explaining why you want the internship.
  • An essay, written in high-quality English of no more than 300 words that answers both “What is the future of agri-business in Nepal? And how would you connect farmers to reliable markets?”
  • 3 Curriculum Vitae in Word format.
  • 4 Academic reference confirming grade performance.

A panel of experts from RAP3 will shortlist applications for interview. The decision to shortlist candidates lies solely with RAP3 and therefore cannot be challenged in anyway. Successful applicants will be notified at the earliest possible date, and are discouraged to contact RAP3 office regarding outcome of their application.  

The selected candidates will be entitled to a monthly stipend and allowances as per RAP3 Norms.
