Position Summary

RTI's International Education Division is supporting education development around the world by strengthening education policy, management and practice in order to achieve measurable improvement in teaching and learning. From our well-established reputation in education system strengthening, to innovative work in early grade assessment and learning, RTI is improving education quality, relevance and efficiency through implementation of projects funded by USAID, DFID, Australian Aid and other donors and clients.

The International Education Division is currently accepting applications for Logistics Specialist for an anticipated USAID-funded five-year project to improve early grade reading in Nepal. This is a full-time position with residency in Nepal developing a textbook and materials procurement and distribution plan, in partnership with the MOE’s Curriculum Development Centre (CDC), which will be institutionalized for NEGRP across the country. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with CDC experts and the Materials Development Specialist, prepare materials printing specifications, consulting with Nepali and international NGOs implementing early grade reading programs in Nepal to build on best practices.
  • Utilize established specifications, manage the logistics of printing and delivery for each school year through local print houses.
  • Ensure that textbook and materials production meet the GON materials price point and that the price point is replicable for NEGRP throughout the program.
  • In collaboration with the Finance Manager and Materials Development Specialist, provide lessons learned for capacity building to MOI and other NEGRP partners with respect to procurement and distribution of EGRP materials.
  • Work with GON to ensure sustainability; ensure that GON annual work plan and budget include materials production by the end of NEGRP.
  • Support overall project procurement and logistics tasks.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree or higher in education or a related field.
  • Nine years of relevant field experience in printing supply chain management and/or printing services, preferably with specific experience inprimary-level reading programs.
  • Experience with USAID project management policies, procedures and reporting requirements;
  • Experience in Nepal preferred.
  • Strong oral/written communication skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required.
