RTI International is seeking “Intern” for the USAID-Health for Life (H4L) Project.  Health for Life (H4L) is a five-year (2012-2017) project financed by USAID and working primarily in coordination with the Government of Nepal’s Ministry of Health (MOH). As a result, H4L has a significant national presence to support the testing and roll-out of national-level policies, guidelines and programs. In addition to the national focus, the Project covers 12 districts in the Mid-Western Development Region (Banke ,Bardiya, Dang, Dailekh,Jajarkot, Jumla, Kalikot, Pyuthan,  Rolpa, Rukum, Salyan and Surkhet),4 in the Western (Arghakhanchi, Kapiklvastu, Gorkha and Kaski) one each in the Eastern and Far-Western Regions (Jhapa, and Kaski) and 9in the Central Region (Chitwan, Dhading, Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Kavre, Makwanpur, Sindhuli, Dolakha, Sidhupalchowk and Ramechhap) to strengthen district and  sub-district level health systems and help identify and implement best practices. H4L collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders, including academia and research institutions, training centers, media partners and civil society.

The primary goal of H4L is to strengthen the Government of Nepal’s capacity to plan, manage and deliver high-quality and equitable family planning, maternal, newborn, and child health services.  H4L activities directly address key health system constraints in the following areas: local health systems governance, data for decision making and evidence-based policy development, human resources management, quality improvement systems, and knowledge and behavior change. The Intern will be deputed at VDC level of Kalikot, Rukum, Jajarkot, Kaskiand Sindupalchowk Districts:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze, interpret and update Village Health Situation Analysis Report ( VHSAR), especially  health facility’s (HF’s) services and quality related sections based on the  records and QI assessment
  • Based on the VHSAR’s main findings, support QI team and Health Facility Operations and Management Committee (HFOMC) to develop agenda for their meetings on regular basis 

DELIVERABLES

  • Updated VHSAR to use for local health planning and budgeting
  • Meeting minutes of QI Team and HFOMCs that include agenda and decisions made based on the VHSAR’s main findings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Public Health or Bachelor of Nursing

NOTES:

  • First priority will be given to the candidate who are currently residing within the cluster of high-priority VDCs and candidate from neighboring VDCs/Municipalities will be on a second priority or cluster of VDCs where they will be deputed.
  • Each intern will be responsible for a number of VDCs that fall in the cluster.
  • For Interns deputed at Kalikot, Rukum, Jajarkotand Kaskiwill work closelywith Community Action Promoter (CAP) and CAP/R (Community Action Promoter/Recorder) and Interns deputed at SindupalchowkDistrict will work closely with Development Associates and Community Health Assistanton day-to-day basis and will be coached/mentored by H4L’s district team and reports to District Program Coordinator/Program Coordinator of the respective Districts.
