Hygiene Promoter - 3 Months (with possibility of extension)

ACTED BACKGROUND:

Since 1993, as an international non-governmental organization, ACTED has been committed to immediate humanitarian relief to support those in urgent need and protect people’s dignity, while co-creating longer term opportunities for sustainable growth and fulfilling people’s potential.

ACTED is present in four continents and our teams intervene in 34 countries towards 8 million people, responding to emergency situations, supporting rehabilitation projects and accompanying the dynamics of development

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under supervision of the Hygiene Coordinator the Hygiene promoter is responsible to:

• Conduct KAP and KPC surveys; 
• Compile the data received from the questionnaire campaign;   
• Conduct school visits to promote good hygiene practices;
• Develop, under the supervision of a Hygiene Coordinator, creative methods of communication and teaching adapted to target populations;
• Prepare theatre performances;
• Train beneficiaries (students, school environment committees and the water committees) in effective hygiene education techniques;
• Organise and conduct competitions between schools to promote good hygiene practices;
• Liase with local authorities;
• Liase with teachers to coordinate the hygiene education campaign with them;
• Coordinate with the Project Coordinator and the hygiene coordinator for the distribution of hygiene kits and booklet;
• Coordinate with the community mobilizers for the creation of school environment committees and the water committees
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities and materials used;
• Ensure effective integration and mainstreaming of gender into all programs.

The Hygiene Promoter is responsible for all above responsibilities in front of Hygiene Coordinator and Project Coordinator and will report to them regularly.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

Education and Work Experience:

• DESIRABLE; Degree in related discipline.
• Minimum 1 year of professional work experience. 
• DESSIRABLE; Experience working with NGOs

Languages: Fluency in English and Nepali.
