JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Program Manager, Gender Based Violence Program Officer will provide support to implement the Gender Based Violence Programs. The Program Officer will work closely with program manager and implementing partners to provide support, supervision and build capacity on the ground and assist coordination of all GBV and gender-related activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Program Manager to support our national partners to ensure quality implementation and meeting the outputs in relation to agreed objectives as per program design;
  • Collects and analyzes relevant data and assist the GBV Manager to collate and prepare reports and other key documents as well as provide guidance to the partner on data collection.
  • Visits the GBV program sites on a regular basis and provide guidance to the national partner and VDC level staff to ensure adherence to GBV ethical guidelines and overall implementation in close consultation with the Program Manager.
  • Facilitate trainings and provide orientations on GBV preventions and response and gender issues to local counterparts as relevant.
  • Supports the monthly monitoring on the effectiveness, including data management of the program and submit reports accordingly to the Program Manager.
  • Collaborates with the Outreach team, Finance/Admin and Procurement and Logistics Manager to ensure that program supplies and resources are available in a timely manner to support workshops, events and research conducted by outside consultants.
  • Collaborates with the Monitoring and Evaluation team in monitoring and reporting on indicators related to GBV and gender activities.
  • Supports the financial monitoring of the project, including timely planning of budget forecasts as required.
  • Supports coordinates and participate in GBV taskforce / sub cluster meetings with relevant partners and stakeholders at district level and Kathmandu level when requested.
  • Assists the coordination with government stakeholders and support compliance with government requirements throughout the project cycle and in case of development of new project proposals.
  • Maintains strong working relationships with all relevant stakeholders throughout program cycle and devise appropriate capacity building strategies to ensure development and sustainability of all GBV program activities.
  • Translate documents as well as translate conversations as needed between Nepali and English to facilitate the work of the Program Manager and ensure we can provide guidance notes in Nepali where relevant.
  • Represent IMC at official forums as requested by the Program Manager.
  • On the job learning, through training and revision of materials to strengthen skills as a GBV trainer and to become an active promoter of GBV guiding principles.  

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION:

  • Master degree in public health, gender studies or related field preferred (or bachelor degree / post graduate with significant work experience).
  • At least 2 years’ experience implementing GBV related initiatives/ or a related field - which can include a combination of community-based awareness-raising and prevention and/or facility based work focusing on counseling and meaningful response to needs of GBV survivors.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the link between gender, GBV and guiding principles.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the Nepalese context.
  • Understanding of project cycle management and sound writing skills for reporting internally and externally.
  • Experience with monitoring and data management of GBV or psychosocial focused interventions.
  • Good knowledge in data management and analysis, including thorough understanding of excel.
  • Proficiency in English and Nepali required.
  • Ability to travel in country up to 50% of the time.
