Job Title: Finance Officer, Part-time

Location: Kathmandu (Nepal)

Type: Part-time (20 hours per week)

Reports to: Country Representative, Nepal

Supervises: No supervision   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures proper financial control and adequate cash flow for the MTI-Nepal office as well as provide financial oversight of grants to local partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist the program and admin staff with day-to-day accounting operations and financial support in accordance with MTI policies and procedures, and donor requirements.
• Ensure financial practices and budgetary allocation consistency between field and HQ.
• Ensure required preapprovals are secured in advance of incurring expenses.
• Account for procurement transactions to ensure adequate supporting documentation, accuracy, and control over payments.
• Process bank and cash transactions, including reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate financial transactions, grants, and contract records.
• Assist program and finance staff in meeting internal and donor reporting requirements.
• Prepare monthly expense reports with actual to budget analysis.
• Assist with budget preparations and budget realignments for MTI and partners.
• Ensure adequate and smooth cash flow from headquarters to Nepal and to the field through expense forecasting.
• Committed to the values and principles of MTI.

QUALIFICATION:

• Nepali citizen.
• Relevant university degree.
• At least five years relevant financial experience.
• At least two year working for an international NGO in finance.
• Advanced user of Excel.
• Preferred experience working with donors such as USAID or UN organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team.
