Expression of Interest

Mercy Corps Nepal works to build the absorptive, adaptive and transformative potential of vulnerable individuals and communities across Nepal. The goal is attained through a systems based approach to market development, financial services, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and youth engagement. Mercy Corps began its operation in Nepal in 2005, with projects focusing on the sectors of economic and food security; climate, natural resource and disaster risk management; youth engagement; with the inclusion of women and disadvantaged groups as important cross-cutting themes throughout each intervention area.

STEM II is a 3 years, DFID-funded programme focusing on supporting the education of marginalised girls in Kailali District in the Far Western Region of Nepal, which is part of a DFID-led global initiative called the Girls Education Challenge (GEC -T). By the end of the programme STEM is expected to reach around 5,000 in-school girls between grades 8 and 10 of academic year 2074, and out-of-school girls who dropped out from school grades 6 to 10 since 2066 BS from 30 STEM schools. Programme activities include: campaigning to promote girls’ education; training school teachers, school management personnel and parents; upgrading school infrastructures; offering vocational training and business start-up loans; delivering critical academic support, life skills and sexual and reproductive health training to girls; and providing training and employment opportunities to help girls transition from school into employment. The project is jointly implemented by Mercy Corps and a partner NGO. The project will target 10 VDCs, one municipality and one sub-metropolitan city in Kailali district. The project works with 30 lower secondary and secondary schools in Kailali district. 

STEM II invites expression of interest for Gender Consultant to build a gender analysis report and conduct a consultation workshop.  Interested and experienced organizations/firms may download an electronic scope of work and tender documents from nepal.mercycorps.org and submit the proposal in a sealed envelope not later than 4:00 p.m. on June 26, 2017 in the following address.  Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted for further selection process.
