International Medical Corps has responded to every major disaster of the last 30 years, delivering more than $2 billion in assistance and training in more than 70 countries. International Medical Corps is working in support of the Government of Nepal’s response efforts. We were among the first INGOs on the ground and operational following the earthquake, providing medical treatment and essential supplies. Our technical staff on the ground now includes physicians, nurses, surgeons, as well as specialists in water, sanitation and hygiene, mental health and psycho-social support and nutrition.

Research Consultant

SCOPE OF WORK (SOW)

BACKGROUND:

International Medical Corps (IMC) is a global humanitarian nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering by providing health care training and medical relief programs worldwide.

IMC together with a local partner, has implemented project titled “Strengthening Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Services and Environments” in 24 VDCs and one municipality of Gorkha district. The project aimed to improve adolescent RH service seeking behaviors through community-level and health facility level interventions.

OBJECTIVES OF THE CONSULTANCY

This consultancy will develop and complete the end line assessment with both qualitative and quantitative data analyses for International Medical Corps’ Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Program.

EXPECTED DELIVERABLES:

  • Finalize end line assessment protocol 
  • Develop and finalize qualitative and quantitative assessment tools 
  • Hiring and training of four enumerators (2 male and 2 female) to conduct data collection, data entry, transcription and translation of quantitative and qualitative tools 
  • Submission of original copies of raw data and data entry spreadsheets
  • Produce high quality and comprehensive end line assessment report including background, methodology, key findings, organizational learning and recommendations 
  • Conduct orientation with partner staff on end line assessment research methodology and M&E principles. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • MPH degree or equivalent with at least 5 years’ experience in research. Adolescent SRH background preferred    
  • Demonstrated experience conducting qualitative and quantitative data analysis and familiarity with qualitative and quantitative data analysis software   
  • Excellent facilitation skills and experience in building capacity of staff and partners
  • Excellent written English and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated teamwork, ability to maintain a positive working relationship with clients and colleagues with professionalism and integrity
  • A self-starter, a leader and a problem solver with the ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent planning skills; is flexible and has the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet multiple deadlines

  • Research team description: composition (consultant + 4 enumerators), leadership and brief description of all members’ tasks
  • Work plan/time frame for the research with clear details concerning the work to be executed (methodology), and specifying interim deliverables 
  • Complete budget that correlates to work plan and deliverables 
  • An example of research report on ASRH produced by the research team or research lead (or valid hyperlink to online published papers, reports)
