Job Description

TITLE: Employment and Welfare Worker (E&W)

CONTRACT: 6 month part time. Contract renewable (with 3 month probation period).

Sisters Business and Program began due to the initial awareness and then documented research of the struggle for young Nepalese women to gain meaningful employment. Because of this, many young women are vulnerable to trafficking.

Sisters Business was seen a sustainable avenue to provide young women who were vulnerable to trafficking with training and life-skills development. This in turn will increase their employability.

The Sisters Program includes both the apprenticeship at the business and the transition to work support. The apprenticeship provides a place for Nepalese young women to be trained as a waitress, beautician or chef. Each year ten apprentices will be trained through Sisters.

The transition to work support enables the apprentices to gain employment in a secure, safe & fair working situation. This may include recruitment as an employee with an existing employer or assistance to start an independent business and be self-employed.
