OVERVIEW – Carry out diagnosis, faultfinding, repair and maintenance on any electronics parts of the equipment. Carry out repair and maintenance on electrical distribution systems across the BGN site in support of the DIO (Nepal) mission.

DUTIES (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES): 

  • Carry out diagnosis, faultfinding, and repair any faults on equipment electronics. 
  • Carry out any maintenance and servicing on equipment electronics. 
  • Carry out all the necessary testing, inspection, repair and maintenance of the electrical installation in accordance with BS7671:2008, as amended, including completion of the correct documentation.
  • Interpret simple drawings and produce the required task from these documents.
  • Safely and efficiently operate small electrical portable power tools and static bench power tools   (training will be provided if required).
  • Updating the Planned Maintenance Log Book as per Schedule ‘C’ Spec 005 as required.
  • Carry out domestic and commercial (industrial) electrical/electronic wiring installation including testing and documentation.
  • Work in workshops, noisy generator house, accommodation quarters, commercial buildings and hot and humid kitchens.
  • Any other tasks as dictated by the Line Manager; commensurate with grade and competence.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: 

  • You will ideally have completed Diploma in electrical or electronics engineering. However, lower level educational qualification on similar field may also be considered along with any other vocational and technical education/ training. 
  • You will ideally be expected to have served a minimum of 2 years as an electronics technician and electrician /apprentice, or have similar experience up to the equivalent standard.  You may be required to attend a theory and written entrance exam to establish your competence.
  • If applicable, you must be able to provide a training certificate from a reputed institute upon request.
  • You will be required to interpret simple drawings and produce the required task from these documents, you will be expected to have a good working knowledge of the BS7671:2008 as amended including the Guidance Notes.
  • You will be required to work from sketches, verbal and written instructions to include checking that the information is correct and current and amend as necessary in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager.
  • You will be expected to have a good command of written and spoken English and Nepali, be self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative.
  • You must be competent to operate small electrical portable power tools and static bench power tools (training will be provided if required).
  • You must know and be able to carry out the immediate action drills for electrical shock.
  • You will be expected to be familiar with all relevant Health and Safety at Work matters relating to your areas of responsibility and be physically fit and capable of climbing ladders/scaffolding.
  • You will be required to work away from your base for extended period of time.
