Mercy Corps Nepal works to build the absorptive, adaptive and transformative potential of vulnerable individuals and communities across Nepal.  Mercy Corps began operations in Nepal in 2005, and since then has implemented projects in the sectors of economic and food security; climate, natural resource and disaster risk management; and youth engagement; with the inclusion of women and disadvantaged groups as important cross-cutting themes throughout each intervention area.

Supporting the Education of Marginalised Girls in Kailali (STEM). The STEM Programme (Supporting the Education of Marginalised Girls in Kailali) is a programme funded by the UKAid that works with more than 8,000 in-school girls between grades 6 and 10, and out-of-school girls who dropped out during the same school years. The project began in January 2014 and will close out in April 2016. The project is jointly implemented by Mercy Corps and FAYA Nepal and targets 14 VDCs and Dhangadhi Municipality in Kailali district. The project works with 30 lower secondary and secondary schools in Kailali district. 

Mercy Corps Nepal invites applications from interested candidates for the following positions: 

1. Education Coordinator-1 (Based in Kathmandu with 50% travel in Kailali): Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the Education Coordinator (EC) will provide technical and logistical oversight of two major outputs of the programme: training school management and parents, and all aspects of Girls Clubs for in and out-of-school girls, from design to delivery and monitoring.

2. Project Officer (Financial and Vocational Training Opportunities)- Dhangadi based: The Project Officer will be directly responsible for facilitating, implementing and monitoring STEM activities, in close coordination with project partners. The incumbent of this position will focus largely on the main aspects of two outputs of the STEM programme: the Girls Transition Fund (GTF) and the Step Programme. S/he will also provide backstopping and support to three other STEM Project Officers across the other four STEM outputs as required. S/he will work under the supervision of the Deputy Programme Manager, and will be required to coordinate closely and collaborate the rest of the STEM team and project partners to effect successful implementation, M&E and reporting of activities.
