VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

RTI International, the International Education Division is currently accepting applications for a Drivers to support the Early Grade Reading Program (EGRP), a USAID-funded five-year program to improve early grade reading in Nepal. This is a full-time positions. The 5-year program will work closely with and support the Government of Nepal’s design and initial implementation of a national education model that standardizes early grade reading in public schools.  These Positionsare based in Kathmandu with frequent travel to other target districts across Nepal.  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide transport services to staff and visitors as per instruction.
  • Takes responsibility for assigned vehicles for cleanliness, proper maintenance, as well as safety of self and passengers.
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date records on vehicle log book, vehicle maintenance, fuel consumption, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records as per RTI rules.
  • Performs minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicle(s) as required.
  • Coordinates the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance.
  • Responds immediately to accident or medical emergencies.
  • Performs other duties as may be required.

Training and Experience

  • Vocational training; formal drivers training with a valid driver's license in good standing.
  • At least three (3) years of work experience as a driver; safe driving record with a recognized institution.
  • Additional experience in basic logistics support preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repairs. 
  • Knowledge of radio, email, telephone and other applications.
  • Trustworthy, high sense of responsibility, alertness; physical fitness on duty and courteous.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English and Nepali.
  • Ability to work hands-on, independently, and within team.
  • Knowledge of operating office equipment, printers, photocopiers, scanners preferred.
  • Physically and mentally healthy to perform the duties required (basic health checkup will required –eye sights)
  • Ability to deal patiently and tactfully with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. 
  • Good knowledge of the area and the current conditions of roads and highways.
