Search for Common Ground (Search) is an international non-governmental and not for profit, conflict transformation organization. Its mission is to transform how individuals, organizations, and governments deal with conflict – away from adversarial approaches and toward cooperative solutions. Founded in 1982, Search has headquarters in Washington, DC, USA and in Brussels, Belgium. Search has been working in Nepal since 2006 to support conflict transformation, peacebuilding, good governance, and security and justice.

Search for Common Ground (Search) is an international peacebuilding organization that strives to transform the way the world deals with conflicts, away from adversarial approaches towards collaborative problem solving. Search is working in 35 countries across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the USA. SFCG works with governments, civil society, state institutions, youth, media organizations and other stakeholders to promote peace, tolerance and collaboration across dividing lines. Since 2006, our programs in Nepal aim to support development and long-term peace, focusing on five areas: strengthening governance and democratic participation; promoting peacebuilding and reconciliation; enhancing access to justice and security; supporting development and economic growth; and developing leadership and a culture of dialogue. Currently, Search works with 24 NGOs, 13 FM radio stations, and relevant line agencies in 15 districts of the country.

Search in Nepal is seeking highly motivated, committed, & dynamic Nepali citizens for the position of Director of Programs (DoP). The Director of Programs is responsible for leading a dynamic program team to ensure highest program quality across all projects/programs being implemented by Search in Nepal. The DoP is a part of Search’s Leadership Management team responsible for cross-cutting programmatic management to ensure synergy between different projects and providing strategic oversight in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting of results. S/he is also accountable for ensuring high quality donor reports as per donor requirements. S/he must ensure establishment and revision of policies and systems in the organisation for effective running of programs. S/he is also responsible for creating and maintaining strong relationships with donors, partners and relevant government authorities to enhance Search’s brand and profile. S/he will be directly manage program leads/managers and will ensure that all human resources related processes are timely implemented including performance evaluation, capacity building and team-building.

Required Qualification and Skills: 

  • Master’s degree in International Development/ conflict resolution/ peace-building, human rights or related area;
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the peacebuilding /conflict transformation sector including in program and grant management, design & strategic planning, project implementation, and monitoring and evaluation;
  • At least 3 years’ experience of senior management level in managing complex programs with multiple themes with funding from bilateral and multi-lateral agencies; together with grants and people management
