Facilitator to Team Building Event

Mercy Corps Nepal works to build the absorptive, adaptive and transformative potential of vulnerable individuals and communities across Nepal. Mercy Corps began operations in Nepal in 2005, and since then has implemented projects in the sectors of economic and food security; climate, natural resource and disaster risk management; youth engagement; with the inclusion of women and disadvantaged groups as important cross-cutting themes throughout each intervention area. Mercy Corps has recently launched Promoting Agriculture, Health and Livelihoods (PAHAL) Program and is a Food-for-Peace funded 5 years program with the overall goal that vulnerable populations in Nepal are resilient to the stressors and shocks that impede food security.

PAHAL program is formed with a dynamic consortium of local and international partners that has extensive experience and knowledge of the communities in Nepal, strong relationships with local Organizations and structures, and evidence and learning from global contexts. Together, Mercy Corps, Plan International USA (Plan), International Development Enterprises (iDE), and Tufts University’s Feinstein International Center (FIC) will be working at a systemic level to address both the symptoms and root causes of food insecurity to build community resilience. Similarly, the program consortium has also designed their intervention strategies based on their proven ability to achieve lasting results in the country particularly in the targeted communities on the key constraints to food security. Nevertheless, acknowledging the proven achievements and expertise on given technical expert areas of interventions of the consortium partners, the other most required abilities to have successful program relies upon better coordination with better understanding of diversity within the team acknowledging differences among team members to achieve common goal. Hence, Mercy Corps Nepal is looking for experienced local facilitator to facilitate the event.

Required qualifications for the consultant position must include:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in design, planning and facilitating such team building events with development perspectives
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills on diversity team building activities is highly preferred.
  • Proven experiences working or providing similar services to development organization
  • Sound understanding of Nepal’s social dynamics and its importance in development work will be an added value
