TERMS OF REFERENCE

Community Mobilizers - 3 Months (with possibility of extension)

DUTY STATION:

Dhading, Sindupalchok, Dolakha, Solukumbu

ACTED BACKGROUND:

Since 1993, as an international non-governmental organization, ACTED has been committed to immediate humanitarian relief to support those in urgent need and protect people’s dignity, while co-creating longer term opportunities for sustainable growth and fulfilling people’s potential.

ACTED is present in four continents and our teams intervene in 34 countries towards 8 million people, responding to emergency situations, supporting rehabilitation projects and accompanying the dynamics of development

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Work with the team leader and other assessment team members to develop community survey, survey data collection methods and assist with data entry, as needed;
• Provide assistance to team leaders in planning, coordinating and conducting community engagement and public meetings for data collection in reference to the ACTED requirements;
• Establish and maintain contact with governmental and non-governmental representatives of the choosing districts;
• Mobilize Community on coordination meetings and discussions on type of infrastructure needed in the mentioned areas;
• Facilitate and encourage inclusiveness of all community in this assessment project participation; 
• Support mechanisms for increasing citizens’ participations in potential decision-making process regarding infrastructure development assessment in the chosen provinces;
• Provide, together with the other team members, awareness and technical information regarding possible future infrastructure construction in the mentioned areas;
• Overall support the implementation of infrastructure construction projects in selected districts 
• Provide any other required assistance and flexibility to move from one assessment location to another as requested by line manager;
• Support infrastructure related components of other ACTED programs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES: 

Education and Work Experience: 

1. Having worked with an international organization before on a similar position or higher, a plus.
2. Previous experience in a similar position (of Community Mobilizer on any other project related field) is a plus.
3. Infrastructure/community development experience
4. Good group and interpersonal communication
5. Strong training facilitation
6. Negotiation skills in multicultural and multilingual environment - Self-motivated 

Languages: Fluency in English and Nepali.
