Centre for Integrated Urban Development (CIUD) is an Non-Government Organization (NGO) dedicated to people- centered urban development where it utilizes the synergy of competent pool of human resources (HR) comprising urban planners and social scientists, engineers and community workers, Information Technology (IT) and governance experts etc. It gives primary focus to urban poor, and strives for community-based sustainable solutions to foster livable cities. CIUD announces vacancies for some posts for the Shelter and WASH projects.

Position: Civil Engineer

Job Description: Assist in program development, planning, designing, estimation and implementation, field level supervision of shelter projects.  Technically support in WASH, WATSAN, RWH, GWR and other similar projects of through designing, detail cost estimation and planning of any technical part of the project. Provide necessary guidance and support to the project coordinators and monitor their works. Engage in research, developments and innovations of the projects. 

He/she should have Masters/Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering and comprehensive knowledge on shelter, WASH, solid waste management, disaster and should be able to design programs on WASH.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning and development

                    - Prepare monthly and annual plan, project development 

                    - Draft overall program implementation strategy and its approaches

  • To participate in trainings, workshops, campaigns and exposure visits as demanded by CIUD and its projects, and share with/guide the project team/s accordingly
  • To submit monthly progress reports, and update the monthly management report 
  • Propose alternate designs or specifications whenever the standard design or specification cannot be met in a particular case (e.g., household) due to specific constraints (e.g., of space) and to get the proposal recommended by FC and endorsed by the Project Coordinator.
  • Ensure the field level works as planned and quality assurance 
  • Conduct capacity building programs for technical staff of CIUD and support in their capacity enhancement 
  • Develop technically sound innovative methods to make the projects effective and sustainable. 
  • Ensure quality of work and workmanship through subordinate colleagues as well as by going on field visits for supervision

The position will report to Program Director working under the supervision of the Executive Director
