POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Business Development Consultant

LOCATION: KISAN Office, Sanepa, Lalitpur

GROUP/UNIT: Grants

REPORTS TO: Business Contracts Director

PROJECT SUMMARY:

The USAID funded Knowledge-based Integrated Sustainable Agriculture and Nutrition (KISAN) Project aims to sustainably reduce poverty and hunger in Nepal by achieving inclusive growth in the agriculture sector and increasing the income of farm families. USAID/Nepal will implement the project over a five-year period in 20 districts of western, mid-western and far-western region of Nepal: Baitadi, Dadeldhura, Kanchanpur, Doti, Achham, Kailali, Dailekh, Surkhet, Bardiya, Banke, Rukum, Jajarkot, Salyan, Rolpa, Dang, Pyuthan, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Kapilvastu and Palpa.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Grants Consultant will carry out the following responsibilities under the guidance of Business Contracts Director and work in close cooperation with the Grants Officer, COP, Agriculture Expert, Senior Regional Manager and the Cluster Managers as needed in attaining KISAN grants objectives:

• Work with KISAN headquarter and field staffs to identify grant opportunities and provide supervision once the grants are underway
• Support the development of innovative grants program and assist in preparation of grant Terms of Reference
• Identify and assist potential organizations in understanding and applying for the KISAN grants program
• Review business plans and assist potential organizations in preparing business plans
• Monitor grants activity implementation and share status with the grants team
• Update grants information on grants tracking system and WIKISAN
• Support KISAN in the preparation of project reports and other materials related to grants or other areas, as required, and under the guidance of his/her supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum requirement is a Bachelor degree in Agriculture/ Livestock/ Management or similar and subsequent work experience in grants management. Preference will be given to those with Master degree. Minimum of 5 years work experience in agriculture/ value chain. Experience in preparing business plans. Effective verbal and written communication skills and negotiation skills with other organizations. Able to work in MS Word, Excel and Power-point. Motor cycle driving license holder will have an additional advantage. We encourage the application from women, janajaties and those from disadvantaged communities
