We are seeking experienced and result-oriented professionals for the Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia (CSISA) for the following positions:

POSITION: Assistant Research Associate

Reference No.: N16623

Work station: Far West/Mid-West Region

QUALIFICATION: Master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences with at least 2 years of experience in cereal-based seed/cropping systems.

The candidate will be responsible for implementing experimental trials on seed, agronomic management and farm mechanization in collaboration with farmers and other public and private-sector partners. He/She will be assisting in forming and supporting sustainable partnerships among multiple public and private-sector entitles in the seed, management and mechanization sectors. The candidate will also be responsible for developing training materials and organizing trainings on seed, best management practices, mechanization and sustainable intensification technologies.

Position Title: Assistant Research Associate II

Project: Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia Phase III (Nepal)

Date: February 2016

The major activities of this position include:

  • Implementing and maintaining adaptive research trials and farmers’ participatory trials on seed, agronomic management and farm mechanization
  • Developing enduring training material, and conducting in-field demonstrations, field days, and farmer trainings on seed, best management, mechanization and related technology issues
  • Following best practices in data collection, organizing, managing, storing, and archiving data in accordance with project and CIMMYT norms.
  • Assisting in catalyzing and supporting sustainable partnerships among multiple public and private sector entities in the seed, management and mechanization sectors, engaging and interacting regularly with potential partners throughout the appropriate value chains
  • Assist in developing questionnaire and conducting field surveys as needed
  • Coordinate and assist in efforts to raise awareness about project activities, products, and outcomes among stakeholders, policy makers, and the general public, project-related communications and outputs, including news and updates, photos and videos
  • Reporting regularly to ARTC Managers and project lead, with additional oversight by theme leads 
  • Undertaking other CIMMYT-related tasks as needed
